InTone is popular new treatment for Urinary Incontinence

By Gynecology Specialists Staff

We are excited to offer a new option for the treatment of urinary incontinence.
Our patients love the results, and we hope if you are suffering from UI, or know someone who is, you will contact us for more information.

We are proud that Nurse Practitioner Kim Harris is the only medical person in Chesapeake certified to perform this procedure, called “InTone”.

What is InTone
Kim has treated urinary incontinence with a variety of methods for patients in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Eastern Shore, Peninsula, Hampton Roads and North Carolina, and she finds that InTone combines the most effective non-invasive treatments (pelvic floor muscle exercises, electrical stimulation, and biofeedback) and improved upon them. And, for the patients whose insurance may not cover all or any of the device, the InTone maker offers a 100% money back guarantee.

InTone has been used by thousands of women and 93% report significant improvement. Most are completely dry and no longer wear pads.

InTone has been designed with the patient at the forefront of Gyn care. Women today do not have time for frequent medical appointments, experimentation using pills, or ineffective surgeries with weeks of recovery. InTone allows you access to the same pelvic floor strengthening treatments available at our Gyn clinic, but in the privacy of your home once the device has been programmed by Kim.

Patients come to our GYN clinic for an initial visit, followed by appointments in 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 10 weeks, and 14 weeks. During those follow-up visits their progress is assessed and their treatment regimen is modified accordingly. They will do a cycle of therapy in the office at each of those visits. The rest is done in the comfort of your home.

How do I know if I have urinary incontinence?
The main symptom of incontinence is the unplanned release of urine; whether it occurs in small drops or a larger volume. This leakage can occur on a daily basis, or may be more infrequent.

Most women in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Eastern Shore, Peninsula, Hampton Roads and North Carolina who “leak” do not identify themselves as incontinent, but should understand that unplanned bladder leakage is not normal and should be addressed early as these issues will not resolve on their own and can worsen.

If left untreated, urinary incontinence can affect the way a woman feels about herself and can cause depression or social isolation. In addition, ongoing urinary incontinence can lead to skin irritation and increased risk for urinary tract infections.

It is a condition that affects at least 20% percent of women in the United States alone. In fact, some estimates bring this number up to 45% if including women who are undiagnosed. Additionally, approximately 25% of new mothers have unexpected urinary leakage after a vaginal delivery and about 16% of women have leakage following cesarean section.

What Causes Urinary Incontinence?
There are many different causes of urinary incontinence. Some of those include:
• Certain medications
• Increased BMI
• Over-consumption of caffeine
• Pregnancy and childbirth

Symptoms of urinary incontinence
• Bladder leakage when you laugh, cough, sneeze or exercise.
• Sudden urges to go to the bathroom.
• Wake up at night multiple times to go the bathroom.
• Does your condition stop you from doing things you want to do?
• Do you stop in the pads section of your grocery store every week?

What women are saying about InTone

I can't believe how this has been so simple
R. K. - April 2013

“I am a nurse in my 50's and consider myself fit and active (black belt martial artist). I have had mixed incontinence for over 20 years with 3 surgeries to attempt repair, as well as medication and "bulking" twice. I have loyally done Kegel exercises with no relief of symptoms. In fact, I had stepped up to maxi pads and often soaked two a day. I always knew where the nearest restroom was, selected clothing based on my ‘issue’ and my fear of leakage was never out of my mind. I had all but given up on any kind of working out, and had even backed off my martial arts or lifting my grandchildren.

“At the recommendation of my Gyn physician I agreed to TRY the InTone, but my attitude was just to prove him wrong! I was confident another surgery was in my future as I WOULD NOT live like this! After two weeks with InTone my symptoms seemed improved but I was skeptical and argued that I must be consuming less coffee or some other factor. A week later I reduced my pads to medium liners....a month later to light liners.

“It has now been 4 months and my life is changed. It took me a long time to get my confidence to the level of using no liner at all, but I took the step a few weeks ago. After repeated surgeries, thousands of dollars, weeks of missed work, tears from frustration....I can't believe how this has been so simple. While I hated ever telling even my close friends about my ‘issue’, today I want to tell every woman I know about what I have experienced.”

Thank you InTone!!

Sue Furry – March 2013

“In September of 2012 I explained my stress incontinence to my Gyn doctor. My symptoms were urgency, and bladder leakage at times of stress, sneezing, coughing, and in the middle of the night. I felt like my pelvic floor was weak and the muscles were not strong enough to keep a full bladder from leaking. My real concern was that I was in my early 50s and I did not want to have an incontinence problem by the time I was 60.

“My doctor recommended two options: 1. Surgery 2. InTone pelvic floor exercise. To me doing an exercise that required lying down and not sweating for 15 minutes verses an invasive surgery was a better answer.

“I started the InTone Exercises for the 15 minute session 6 days a week through December. I gradually got stronger readings starting at 130 and going up to 175. I felt that I was getting stronger, and the bladder leakage and urgency had lessened.

“From January through March 27 I maintained by doing the InTone exercise 2 times a week. After my follow up visit we found I was consistently at about 150 and I felt that 2 days a week for 15 minutes each would be easy to keep my pelvic floor strong to reduce leakage, and to avoid surgery.

“I highly recommend the InTone product to help women who are experiencing pelvic floor weakening. I am glad I had the opportunity to discover this product before my symptoms got worse. I think this product is great for women who plan to be active without using disposable diapers in their 70s and 80s. Strengthening those muscles is like having a pelvic floor face lift.

Thank you InTone!”

I am so happy I tried this device!
Aim G. – Oct. 2012

“I am a 41 year old who has had bladder leakage for many years. I have had to wear panty liners daily. After starting the Intone device, I have noticed a HUGE decrease in my leakage. I would normally have to wear a maxi pad if I had a cold/cough. I would SOAK the pad. I recently got over a cold and I didn’t have to wear a maxi pad at all and had very little leakage. I am so happy I tried this device.”

INCREDIBLE!!!!!
M.L. – Oct. 2012

“I just thought I knew where my kegel muscles were and how to contract them! I have suffered from mixed urinary incontinence for almost 30 years after having three children. My physical activity has been very limited due to my fear I would lose urine. Even with laughing, lifting, coughing and sneezing I would have to be prepared, cross my legs and hope for the best. I have taken medication and tried some ‘gimicks’ to help, to no avail. Since using the InTone at the recommendation of my Gyn physician, I feel like I got my life and youth back! InTone is a computerized, high tech, private physical therapy session. No batteries to replace and it comes with a charger. And guess what? I’M DRY and getting control of my life again!”

Distinct Improvement In Ability To Contract My PC Muscle
Sherrie Palm Founder/CEO – Association for Pelvic Organ Prolapse Support – Aug. 2012

“As a women’s pelvic floor health advocate, I continually explore treatment options for pelvic organ prolapse. Women with POP routinely experience symptoms related to a weak pelvic floor; urinary incontinence is a common denominator. I’m pleased to report I noticed a distinct improvement in ability to contract my pc muscle shortly after beginning a regimen with Intone. I absolutely recommend Intone as a treatment option for recapturing pelvic floor strength; all women should be made aware of the value of lifelong pelvic floor maintenance.”

1 week and no leaks!
Tina - May 2012

“I can’t believe it! Only 8 days using the InTone and I did 20 jumping jacks and didn’t leak! I am a 48-year-old mother that hasn’t been able to cough, sneeze, or run without losing urine over the past 20 years! My husband couldn’t believe that I actually ran down the hall and didn’t have a urinary accident. This InTone is wonderful. I recommend it to anyone with bladder control problems.”
