Understanding Perimenopause

Perimenopause is the natural transition leading up to menopause. It often begins in a woman’s 40s, although symptoms may start earlier.

Midlife can bring unexpected changes to your periods, sleep, mood, energy, weight, and sexual wellness. While these changes are common, you do not have to navigate them alone. Our hormonal consultation provide personalized, compassionate care to help you better understand and manage your symptoms.

As hormone levels fluctuate, you may experience irregular or heavier periods, hot flashes, disrupted sleep, mood changes, fatigue, or vaginal discomfort. Always discuss new or concerning changes in menstrual bleeding with your healthcare provider.

Menopause is reached after 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period. It most commonly occurs between ages 45 and 55. Every woman’s experience is different. Some have only mild changes, while others experience symptoms that significantly affect everyday life.

Menopausal Care

After listening carefully to what you are experiencing, your provider may recommend testing when appropriate and work with you to create an individualized treatment plan.

Treatment Options

LIFESTYLE SUPPORT: Personalized guidance for behavioral modifications, exercise, sleep, and bone health. Hormone therapy may help relieve symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disruption, and vaginal discomfort. Your provider will discuss if hormone therapy may be appropriate option for you.

NONHORMONAL TREATMENT: Prescription medications and supportive therapies may be available for women who prefer not to use hormones or cannot use them safely.

VAGINAL AND URINARY CARE: Treatment may include moisturizers, lubricants, vaginal estrogen, other prescription therapies, or pelvic floor physical therapy. We can review supplements and complementary treatments to help you understand which options may be safe and beneficial.

Supporting Your Health Through Midlife care is about more than managing symptoms.

It is also an opportunity to support your long-term breast, bone, heart, metabolic, sexual, and emotional health. Our team will listen to your concerns, explain your options clearly, and help you create a care plan that feels comfortable and realistic.
